A member asked:

What can be done for a strep throat that's lasted for 4 months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If a patient has recurrent febrile strep infections over that period there are combinations of meds that can usually knock it out. If, however, the person just has few symptoms but multiple positive strep tests, they may just be a carrier. If so (5-10% of population) other testing may be advised to see whether treatment is necessary. Many sore throats are just viral, failure to test= no diagnosis
