Coronary heart dis.: SPECT imaging utilizes intravenous injection of radiotracers for evaluation of heart disease. Usually it is for detection of areas of ischemia or infarction. Usually two part examination comparing rest and exercise. Sometimes if patient unable to exercise medications are used to accelerate heart rate.Can also calculate ejection fraction or muscle contraction of heart

Ischemia: The SPECT imaging is using a chemical to look at the rest and stress images of your heart. The cardiologist will look at the two types of images and compare them. if there is less uptake in certain parts of the heart during stress that might indicate a lack of blood flow.

MPI: We use it to measure ejection fraction, ischemia or scar in the heart muscle or viability of heart muscle. Most of then when somebody complains of chest pain.
