Subtle but present: While research is ongoing, there is an increasing body of evidence showing long term exposure to even small amounts of any of the inhaled anesthetics, which includes Isoflourane, has temporary or potentially permanent side effects. They include miscarriages and cognitive impairment such as memory, learning and behavioral deficiency. They are mostly subtle in young, healthy patients though.
