Withdrawal symptoms: While it's most likely not life threatening or dangerous, I never recommend to my patients to quit any medicine all at once. I have them gently taper down if for some reason they need to stop. With Pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) which is similar to Effexor, they may experience agitation, electric like shocks, and irritability for several days. Please talk to your doctor.

Discontinuation: Syndrome symptoms may include ^ sweating, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, anxiety, irritability, agitation, fatigue, insomnia, unusual dreams, mood swings, headaches, confusion, ringing in ears, electrical shock/ zap sensations hypomania & seizures. Please don't go off this med cold turkey - do so under medical supervision.
