A member asked:

How long could i have had mono before i experienced symptoms and was diagnosed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Troubles of mono: 'Infectious mononucleosis' can start 4–6 weeks after initial infection. Exposure to saliva is the route -hence the name the 'kissing disease'. Symptoms start gradually, but could be more sudden. The main symptoms (sore throat) may be preceded by 1–2 weeks of fatigue, malaise and body aches. Diagnosis can sometimes be tricky so hopefully you can see an experienced doc who will order the right tests
