the doctor found protein in my urine. could this be from drinking alcohol the night before?

No: Alcohol usually doesn't cause protein in the urine. This is caused by diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, medications, toxins, immune disorders or infections affecting the kidneys. You should discuss the findings w/ your doctor to see what further studies you need.
