A member asked:

Can doctors test for genital warts with a pap smear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Warts are lesions caused from the hpv virus and can been seen by the naked eye or under the microscope which is also known as colposcopy. The presence of hpv virus can be detected by finding the dna from the virus from the pap smear test. You can have the dna present without seeing any warts. You cannot have warts without the virus but many have the virus without having warts.
