A member asked:

If you lost eyesight partially, is it able to ever come back or is it permanent?

Depends: Many structures of the eye can be improved or replaced such as the cornea and lens. Loss of retinal photoreceptors is however permanent. Discuss with the ophthalmologist which of these categories the patient you have in mind falls into.
