Limit amounts.: Everyone has an individual rate at which they metabolize alcohol. If more is consumed in a period of time than the body can metabolize, you develop symptoms of intoxication, from mild to severe. Even mild intoxication can produce a hangover the next day. To avoid complications, eat while you drink, alternate alcoholic drinks and water, and drink no more than 1 drink per hour.
