Periodontal disease: periodontal disease is a chronic disease and like other chronic diseases you can control it. Control depends on controlling the plaque and biofilm with excellent oral care, regular dental visits and cleanings once you have healthy periodontal pockets. You are always at risk for reoccurrence so continue with your good habits and dental care.

Don't let up: Avoid overconfidence and think that your periodontal disease is really cured. Normally, it is maintained and should not be neglected in emphasizing your proper home care and dental visits (even going more than 2 times per year.)
