Yes: A varicocele is an abnormal enlargement of the veins draining the testicle. Open inguinal hernia surgery is performed in close proximity to these veins which can be tied off if bleeding is encountered or just scarred down from the surgery. This at times may be an inevitable complication due to the anatomy of inguinal hernia.
