A member asked:

What are the odds of surviving a car crash? what kills you exactly? blood loss?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on severity: The most common cause of death in a car crash is closed head injury. Second most common is closed chest injury, something disrupting the heart / great vessels. Hemorrhage is seldom the cause of these deaths. The severity of the crash determines the likelihood of a fatal outcome, and seat belts can and do save many lives.
