PCOS: The most prominent symptom of PCOS is irregular cycles, with extended periods of no bleeding (e.g., 3 or 4 periods per year) followed by periods of bleeding for more than a week to weeks that bring women to the gynecologist. The irregular cycles are the result of lack of ovulation, which in turn results in an inability to conceive.
