Depends on who you: read or talk to. Guinness advertises that it is "good for you," but there is not much evidence that beer is different from wine or distilled spirits. One drink per day (up to 2 max in men, but only 1 in women and men>60) can raise HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol). However, more than 2 drinks/day begins to increase blood pressure and cause alcohol-related organ toxicities and dependency.
