For over 5 years i've been experiencing severe bruising pain in my rectum/anus at night. i've googled it and proctalgia fugax comes up. please advise.

Need exam: There are many things that can cause rectal pain. It would be a good idea to see your doctor and get a rectal exam. Proctalgia fugax has to do with muscle spasms in the pelvic muscles, but you need to make sure that there is nothing more serious going on.

If it has any correlation to your defecation....other simpler possibilities can be considered. Are you constipated ?
