Knee pain: Bilaterally knee pain is most commonly caused by osteoarthritis - which is age related changes in the bone structure Follow up with your doctor and ask him about other causes of knee pain such as autoimmune arthritis.

Knee pain: can be from arthritis of different types, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. It can also be from muscular, ligament or other soft tissue causes. Most of these would not show up on a regular X-ray. If you have not already, you should consider seeing an orthopedist or a rheumatologist and perhaps have an MRI.

What other...: What other tests have been done? What other symptoms are you having? Swelling, cracking sound, did you suffer any injuries? If blood work was done and not related to any inflammatory disease( like for example Rheumatoid Arthritis), it is very common in your age group to suffer of osteoarthritis due to leg and knee overuse. Physical therapy is indicated in this case. Discuss with your doctor.

Many causes: It's not unusual for a patient to have pain or stiffness in the knees, and yet x-rays are normal. There are a number of structures in and around the knee joint that cannot be seen on a pain x-ray. For a discussion about the various conditions that cause knee symptoms see this Mayo Clinic website: mayocl.in/10ASgc5 You may want to see an Rheumatologist or Orthopedic Surgeon for an opinion.
