Progesterone: Taking progesterone while pregnant is to sustain the support of the fetus (pregnancy) by adding progesterone which may be necessary with a history of miscarriage. Typically, the placenta will produce progesterone in high amounts after the 14th-16th week of pregnancy. It is not harmful to stay on progesterone through the 16trh week.
