No: But having a stone like that can. Would they consider lithotripsy (using sound waves to break up stone into smaller pieces that you can pass without surgery?) Might want to discuss with your doctor. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Dr R

Kidney stones: Since it is not clear what type of stone you have, stay on a low protein diet at this time. Lithotripsy, which uses sound waves to break up the stone, is very effective and may be an alternative to surgical removal. Ask your kidney specialist if this would be appropriate for you.
