Raccoon roundworms: The raccoon roundworm, Baylisascaris procyonis, is increasingly recognized as a cause of serious or fatal larva migrans disease in humans and animals. The eggs are found in numerous areas around garbage where the raccoons have been foraging. The CDC publication Emerging Infectious Diseases, Vol 9, 2003 has an excellent review which should be available online.
