Vague/stress: Hard to say without a thorough history and exam. Possibly keep some type of journal about your symptoms and I would see a Dr.

Where vacation?: If you are allergic to something in your home area (indoor or outdoor), being away in a totally different environment would keep you away from the allergens. Having said that, hives from pollen, dust mites, pet exposure are unusual but I have seen them with mold exposure. Is there any evidence of water damage at your home? See an allergist if your symptoms are that othersome.
