Tricky: without seeing it, cannot say in your particular case. Infection is a serious potential complication of any procedure that breaks the skin. Signs would be pain/redness/warmth and pus. Complcations can be serious and certanily could produce serious and probably permanent scarring. Antibiotics can be very helpful. On the other hand, symptoms that go away completely are not usually important.
