Dark Adaptation?: Optimal dark adaptation, time for the peripheral retina rod light sensing cells, can take 30 to 60 minutes without light exposure. Thus if you your poor vision was due to inadequate time to dark adapt, this could be quite normal. The cone cells, dominant in the fovea centralis, the about 1.5 degree cone of sharp central vision, are best with higher light levels & are color sensitive.
