Gastroenteritis: The pattern of nausea,vomiting and diarrhea usually is seen in either a viral gastrointestinal infection or in food poisoning. If there are associated symptoms such as fever and body aches, a viral infection is likely and it lasts several days and requires no specific treatment other than fluids,light diet and Tylenol (acetaminophen). Food poisoning is also usually self limiting as well. See your MD as needed.

Not sure what the ?: without exam, I can only give general information, but with vomiting and diarrhea the potential for dehydration is quite high. Not being able to take in fluids would mean that the usual time period of about 24 hrs before going tot he ER is going to be speaded up. Especially if abdominal pain or fever or chills are present. Mostly, by 12-24 someone losing significant fluid, not taking any needs ER

Diarrhea vomiting: Likely gastroenteritis.Is the diarrhea muddy or watery? How may bowel movements/day 3 or > 6 ? If does not resolve in 12 hours and If you can not keep water down you will dehydrate (and dehydration makes you nauseated) so seek medical attention from ER, they can also give you medication that prevents vomiting.
