Many causes . . .: Try to determine if any specific food or spice makes things worse. Perhaps time of day? Position during or after meal? In other words, try avoiding spicy foods as common solution. And avoid acidic foods. Some feel better w/o gluten or dairy or both. Try smaller meals. Remain upright after eating - don't recline or lay down immediately. Calcium carbonate is available OTC. So are H2 blockers & PPIs.

Abdominal pain: Several factors can cause upper abdominal pain. The most common would be a stomach ulcer, gastritis (inflammation/infection of the lining of the stomach), pancreatitis (inflammation/infection of the pancreas), and gallbladder problems such as gallstones or a gallbladder that does not function well ( biliary dyskinesia). All of these need to be evaluated by your physician.
