A member asked:

I have a kidney stone and it just sits there no matter how much water i drink. can i get rid of it through shockwaves or will it require surgery?

Kidney stones: Both of those are options for treatment of the stone. The lithotripsy (shockwaves) uses sounds waves to break apart the stone thus allowing you to pass them. Surgical retrieval is basically just that. However, most of the time they are left alone unless they are causing a problem. Speak with your doctor or urologist
