Several possbilities: Not quite enough info for full answer, but possiblities could include nerve entrapment, nerve inflammation, herpes zoster, rib dysfunction, etc. Type of pain is important: sharp, aching, burning, etc. Are skin changes like tiny blisters present? Recommend a good history & osteopathic hands-on physcial exam to figure it out. Tests, medicine, or osteopathic manipulation may be indicated.
