A member asked:

I have a shooting/burning pain in the back of my left leg. the pain happens off and on about 25-30 times a day. what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Leg pain: the burning pain you describe is most likely a neuropathic type of pain, but the question is what is aggravating your nerve. The most common cause is a pinched spinal or paraspinal nerve, but other causes such as diabetes, shingles, vitamin B12 deficiency and a few others need to be ruled out. Please see your doctor. An EMG test may show the origin of the problem. Blood tests and MRI may also help
