A simple solution: is vegetable shortening. The expensive moisturizers are usually only whipped fat with something to make it smell good. Just tapping solid vegetable shortening and rubbing it into the skin will help dry or wind burned skin.

Xeroderma: or excessively dry skin can be often be minimized by using fragrance free hypoallergenic soaps, lotions and detergents. Minimize natural oil loss by taking short warm (not hot) showers no more frequently than every other day, and pat skin dry rather than rubbing. Wear natural fiber clothing, stay well hydrated and humidify the air in your surroundings.
