Side effect: Skin irritation is a known side effect of hydroquinone, and a reason to stop using it.

Yes: Hydroquinone is drying and causes redness at first. Try using every other day until you can tolerate it better. Use sunscreen (hypoallergenic) so you don't get a sunburn, too.
