Cauda equina: syndrome can occur for many reasons. Anything that causes injury to the nerve roots within the spinal canal below the end of the spinal cord (L1 to S5 nerve roots).Tumors, disc fragments, hematomas, infection, arthritic changes to the lower spine, congenital spinal stenosis and inflammation (neurosarcodosis, ankyolsing spondylitis) are examples. Spinal taps, laminectomy are other risk factors.
