Probably not: If you have no fever or difficulty breathing the noise you hear is loose secretions freed up by mucinex (guaifenesin). Deep breaths and cough every 15-30 minutes. Cough after respiratory infections persists a mean length of 17 days. As long as you can cough and expectorate and breathing is easy you should recover just fine. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

When in doubt: Get it checked out. After 2-3 days of antibiotics you should see some improvement. It would be wise to get a recheck. Then can listen to your lungs ,check your vital signs and make sure you don't need an X-ray. Good luck
