How is circumcision done and is it painful.

Circumcision: Circumcision can be done in the office, outpatient surgery center or in the operating room. The most painful part is the recovery as there will be swelling, inflammation. The excess foreskin is removed in a circumferential fashion and then the tissue around the glans is sutured to the skin of the penis

By removing foreskin: Best method in adults is sleeve resection circumcision. @ circumferential incisions, one on outer skin & 2nd at appropriate distance from coronal sulcus (groove). Skin between them excised & bleeding vessels cauterized. Large dorsal vein may require ligation. Skin edges suture together with absorbable sutures. Best under general anesthesia. Moderate pain requires meds 4 2-5 days post-operatively
