Does chewing (not swallowing) toilet paper over many years (if one has pica disease) cause cancer? because of the presence of dioxin?

Therapy to quit: It certainly makes sense to quit now that you know of a possible bad risk. That will help if you work w/ a good therapist experienced w/ pica. But there probably is not a high chance of cancer - there are rare, expensive tests to see how much is in your system. Since the connection is uncertain, it might not be worth it. Quit - then talk to a doctor if you want to consider the test. Best!

Unlikely: Get your iron and CBC checked. If your iron store are low you may be able to replace the iron by preparing tomato based sauces in an iron skillet (some people cannot tolerate iron tablets) Don't chew on toilet paper. You'll find your self having to go to the store to get more just when you need it.
