Pregnancy test: A shortened menstrual period Can be a sign for an existing pregnancy. A home pregnancy urine test will show whether or not that is the case.

Many causes: A short period can happen for a number of reasons. Pregnancy is one cause; a cycle where you didn't ovulate can produce a short period; birth control pills or a progesterone secreting IUD can get you a short period; stress; severe weight loss...The list is pretty long. If pregnancy is a concern, do a home pregnancy test. I wouldn't worry too much unless it becomes a pattern. Best wishes!

Don't worry: It is not uncommon for young women to have changes in the frequency, duration or quality of their menses (periods). However, if you had unprotected sex 3-4wks ago, you can perform a home urine pregnancy test for reassurance. If you do not want to get pregnant now, and are not using a reliable method of contraception consistently, please see your clinician to start an effective contraceptive.

Welk: It is not abnormal to be Kate or have an irregular period. If you are sexually active check a pregnancy test. Otherwise just be patient and wait to see when period comes
