Hiccups: Usually occur from something, usually in the stomach irritating the diaphragm. It is unusual for hiccups to last for longer than 48 hours. If that happens, see his doctor. You might try to give him a little more fluid and burp him. All the best.

Common for some: Most of these had hiccups in late pregnancy & just continue off an on until it fades as the kid gets older. It is due to a spasm of the diaphragm muscle triggered by an electrical wave like the one that makes your heart beat.It is thought that the closeness of the stomach to the diaphragm somehow sets it off.As baby grows, they separate some & it happens less. It bothers you more than baby.
