Ritalin (methylphenidate) Intoxication: Stimulant abuse or intoxication can cause an array of psychiatric symptoms. There is little in the literature to differentiate Ritalin (methylphenidate) from other stimulants when they are abused. There are reports of hallucinations, paranoia, euphoria, delirium, and toxic psychosis. Ritalin (methylphenidate) can be detected by toxicology. Bottom line: there is no difference between Ritalin (methylphenidate) or amphetamine abuse and toxicity.
