A member asked:

A new drug a modified version of niclosamide, that treats intestinal parasites, could be the key to reversing type 2 diab.can it be taken by a diabetic ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Be cautious: This drug was effective in mice. Many treatments that work in mice are not effective in humans. This drug uncouples oxidative phosphorylation, the basic mechanism cells use to generate energy/ATP. In theory, this could cause you to waste energy and lose weight. Years ago, DNP (dinitrophenol) was used to do this and it caused weight loss but also killed people. Best follow your doc's instructions
