Would not quit: cold turkey. You need to discuss this with your physician/ psychiatrist/ OB - the risks of taking effexor (venlafaxine) during pregnancy need to be carefully reviewed (FDA Category C). Next the risks to you without your medication needs to be assessed. What follows should be a carefully weighed decision by you and your treatment team. Take care.

Talk to your MD: You need to discuss this with your MD. Effexor (venlafaxine) is pregnancy category C, which means there are no known risks in humans at normal dosage. If you need the antidepressant, you can take it during pregnancy. If you don't need it, them you can taper off, but you should do it under direction of your MD.
