Yes: HPV can be tested for with the newer liquid based paps. It must be specifically requested by your doctor for the lab to perform the test.

HPV, versus herpes: HPV has characteristic look, however it can be biopsied. Herpes can be tested by swabing, monoclonal antibody testing or serology
