Muscle strain is: one possibility. You can try moist heat, massage, acupressure, acupuncture, stretching & NSAID's. If you have really severe scoliosis - I suggest you discuss deep tissue massage or trigger point massage with your physician first.

Depends where your: scoliosis is located? It can affect the back muscles above and below it to cause muscle strain. MFTP Tx and massage are only temporizing measures. Your best bet is to see a NMM/ OMT Dr. (DO, Doctor of osteopathic medicine), who is a neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist to help you evaluate the degree of scoliosis, if it's a double scoliosis, and help decompress your spine and muscle strains.

Yes: Most probably a strain, exacerbated by scoliosis. Take some over the counter NSAIDS, Motrin or Advil (ibuprofen) if not allergic. Go to doctor if it persists. May require muscle relaxer and steroids. Good luck.
