A member asked:

Child has stuffy/runny nose going on a month and wakes up with horse voice. no other symptoms, has dust mite allergy, does he need antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not...: You haven't described fever or other worsening symptoms that would make me suspicious for a secondary bacterial infection. Runny nose and hoarseness in the morning is common with allergies. If you believe the symptoms are worsening see your pediatrician - that doesn't mean he will need antibiotics with an exam you can likely be reassured that he is fine.
