Be seen...: What you are describing is worrisome for hernia. Unlikely that it is actually the kidney; however, the pain and bulge as you described NEED to be evaluated ASAP - if you can't be seen by your doc now then I would suggest an ER evaluation to ensure that nothing is incarcerated (which can lead to death of bowel/tissue) Take care of you.

Rarely: While the kidney can be herniated, it is usually a very large hernia at the location of a previous incision in the flank. Not quite sure what You mean by 1 week old PCNL incision. If you have a bulge at the location of the incision from a recent operation, call your surgeon for an exam ASAP. Hope this helps!
