Bad breath: Chronic bad breath may be due to: smoking, chronic dental decay and periodontal infection, abscessed tonsils, certain lung conditions like brochiectasis, chronic sinus infection, certain foods (if consumed regularly), and there are a few genetic causes (unfortunately, as yet there are not readily available tests for these conditions).

Many possibilities: The most common reason for persistent bad breath is forgetting to brush the tongue. There are some esoteric reasons that might be the cause, but lack of tongue brushing is the by far the most common.
