Coagulation?: This is a very interesting & commendable "green" approach to handling menstrual blood flow. I believe the thickness has to do with the pooling of blood in the menstrual cup allowing it to thicken &, at least, partially coagulate. The protein fibrin in blood clots could appear stringy. Your actual flow from the uterus has not changed, but the method of collection results in this observed change.
