Yes, and yes.: BV is colonization of cervical os/vagina w/ certain bacteria. It is not an STD. The BMJ is a pretty reliable source of info - http://www.bmj.com/content/319/7204/220. This prelim cohort study showed 2-fold risk of 1st TM miscarriage, due to contaminating endometrium during embryo transfer = hostile implantation environment. Treatment is easy & safe for embryo: 1x oral dose 2g Flagyl. No douching!
