A member asked:

What do you do for mastoiditis caused by head trauma ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Consult an ENT dr: Often, people will have fluid in the mastoid on imaging studies performed after head trauma. This may or may not mean that mastoiditis is present. It may be blood pooled in the mastoid, spinal fluid leaking, or excess mucous pooling in the mastoid. Each cause is managed differently. It would be prudent to be evaluated by an ears, nose, and throat physician.
