A member asked:

What does intestinal disaccharidase deficiencies and disaccharide malabsorption mean? and is it why my gallbladder area hurts frequently?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lack of enzyme: The absorption of nutrients requires that specific enzymes be present. The finger like projections from the intestinal wall contain the enzymes in normal people. If they do not have them due to genetic issues or lost them during illness, they allow nutrients to pass by without absorption. Intestinal germs can then have more food to digest adding to symptoms. This does not influence the gallbladder
