Strep infection: Sounds like a strep (or staph) infection. If the cartilage is infected, this can be serious. See a physician, and get some antibiotics. In the meantime, apply hand sanitizer topically, and maybe a heating pad--use continuously until you get the antibiotics, which I recommend you get soonest!

You are diagnosing: your own ear pain. There are some OTC meds that can help, but what would be best is if you can have it examined fully to make sure it's not affecting your eardrums too, even though now it's affecting more the outer ear, sometimes known as 'swimmers ear'. So, it's good to have this checked by your PCP, and have it documented, then treated.So you are having it validated medically. Go in & see ur Dr.
