OK, but: Robaxin (methocarbamol) is a muscle relaxant of modest benefit, and has been proven to be safe but relatively ineffective in most. Your back pain will likely respond far better to stretching, back and abdominal stretching exercises, and even an occasional massage. If you wish a medication, OTC ibuprofen or naproxen would provide some relief.

No !: Robaxin (methocarbinol) does not directly relax tense muscles in most people and has not been shown be any more effective than pain killers or anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin, ibuprofen or Aleve (naproxen). Robaxin can cause over-sedation, dizziness, nausea and constipation or diarrhea. Less common but more serious side effects: seizures, fainting, severe allergic reactions, very slow heart beat.
