Depends: Traditionally, this would be associated with a short survival. But over the last 3 years, a number of new chemotherapy drugs are available which may significantly extend the quality and duration of patients with metastatic melanoma. Ask your doctor if your melanoma is "BRAF mutant". If so, you are a candidate for a class of drugs. But don't delay, brain mets can be dangerous if not treated.
